Help us study protein needs in avid older cyclists

The Exercise Metabolism and Nutrition Research Lab at McGill University is recruiting generally healthy men aged 65 and older who are avid cyclists with moderate-to-high aerobic fitness.

Who can participate?

Initial eligibility is confirmed during screening.

Age and sex

Men aged 65 years or older.

Cycling background

Avid cyclists who regularly participate in cycling or endurance training.

Health and fitness

Generally healthy, with moderate-to-high VO₂max or aerobic fitness.

What does the study involve?

The study includes one screening visit followed by seven testing days. The research team will explain each procedure before you decide whether to participate.

Screening visit

The screening visit confirms eligibility and includes a DEXA body-composition scan.

Seven testing days

Each testing day runs from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Scheduling is arranged with the research team.

Cycling and nutrition testing

Testing days include cycling exercise and controlled nutrition procedures designed to help determine protein needs.

Breath and urine samples

Breath and urine samples are collected during testing.

Participant compensation
$730

Eligible participants who complete the study receive compensation according to the study’s approved payment schedule.

Also included: a free DEXA body-composition scan

The scan is completed during the screening process and provides information about body composition.
